THE PROJECT
Behind every coffee bean is an incredible story that deserves to be told.
The Alma Café project was born from the desire to discover the behind the scenes of the coffee world by going back to the origin of the product.
Imagine a coffee farm perched at 1,400 meters and dotted with coffee trees sometimes in flower, sometimes covered with fruits changing from green, to yellow or red. A few banana trees providing the necessary shade for the coffee plants and guaranteeing the good development of their cherries, each of which has two small grains growing one against the other, or sometimes alone.
Alma, which means the soul in Spanish, defines in a word the nature of the project.
Alma Café is much more than a new brand of roasted coffee, it's an experience, a journey to the origins and a meeting with coffee producers and makers. By revealing the work that each cup of coffee represents, our goal is to make people appreciate this everyday elixir differently and at its true value.
#ATrueStory
A Belgian roasting that respects the product
Each coffee in the range is roasted following a profile adapted to the bean, which best reveals its unique character. By advocating gentle roasting, we preserve the aromatic qualities of the beans, unlike so-called "burnt" coffees. A light-medium roast profile is used for the filter coffee and a medium roast for the espresso. In order to preserve the freshness of the beans and avoid overproduction, the coffees are roasted as and when required and grounded before each order.
The power of images
Creating an identity specific to each coffee and telling a small piece of its history using the packaging as a medium, echoes the desire for transparency and connection with the origin of the product.
Marine Lucas de Peslouan is the talented artist behind each of the illustrations and who has managed to perfectly transcribe the DNA of the Alma Café project as well as the magic of each bean in the range. Each of the visuals created represents exciting discussions, an immersion through photos, texts and videos, research, hours of work, back and forth to try to transcribe and get as close as possible to the soul of coffees and creation of a clean and quirky universe that today represents Alma Café.
